Why should I pay for Colloquies?

This is a service with real costs. Servers, storage, and maintenance all scale with usage. Most apps cover that by selling ads or your data; we'd rather you be the customer than the product. Circle Plus is how a circle chips in to keep the service running and the conversations private, without anyone being tracked or sold.

What is Circle Plus?

Circle Plus is a yearly pass for a single circle, not a personal subscription. When anyone in a circle buys it, every member of that circle gets the extras for twelve months: unlimited history, all 900 conversation starters, pinned messages, a longer edit window, personalization, and custom polls. Each circle you want to unlock has its own pass.

Who can buy Circle Plus?

Any member of the circle, not only the person who created it. Whoever buys it unlocks the same features for everyone, so it doesn't matter who pays. If two people buy for the same circle, the passes stack and add their time together.

Does Circle Plus renew? Can I cancel it?

There's nothing to cancel. Circle Plus is a one-time purchase that lasts twelve months and then ends on its own. It never auto-renews and never charges you again. When you want to keep a circle unlocked, you buy another pass.

Can I buy more than one year at a time?

Yes. Passes stack, so you can buy ahead. Each additional pass adds another twelve months on top of whatever a circle already has, up to five years out. Buy one a year, or several at once, and the circle's unlock date simply moves further into the future.

What happens when a circle's Plus runs out?

If a pass lapses, there's a seven-day grace window before anything changes, so a forgotten renewal won't cost the circle its history overnight. After that, the circle returns to the free tier: cloud history goes back to the rolling 90-day window, the longer edit window shortens, and pins switch off. Every message already on a device stays there. Anything the circle personalized — its palette, background, and avatar shapes — keeps rendering exactly as chosen. We never strip a look you already picked.

Can I get a refund?

Our own policy is that passes are non-refundable, since each one immediately unlocks the circle for everyone in it. Purchases still go through the App Store and Google Play, and both run their own refund processes. If you need one, the store is the place to ask, and the decision is theirs.

How long is my message history kept?

Every message you've already received stays on your device for as long as the app is installed; we never auto-delete it locally. What changes is the cloud-side window, and it's set per circle:

• Free circle: our servers keep the last 90 days of messages. Older messages roll off the cloud but remain on every device that already has them, so a new device or fresh install re-syncs the last 90 days.
• Circle Plus: cloud-side history never expires, for every member. A new device or fresh install pulls the circle's full history.

Can I edit or delete a message after sending it?

Yes, in any circle. By default you have 60 seconds after sending; in a circle with Circle Plus, every member gets up to an hour. Once the window closes, the message is locked in for everyone, and edited messages show an "edited" label so the conversation stays honest.

What does personalization unlock?

Circle Plus lets a circle feel like yours: a bubble palette, a background color or your own photo, and an avatar shape. Any member can change these, and the change syncs to everyone. If the circle's pass later lapses, every choice stays exactly as you left it; you just can't change them again until someone renews.

Why not make it completely free with ads?

Ads would compromise what Colloquies is about. We'd have to track your behavior, optimize for engagement over wellbeing, and turn intimate conversations into data points. Instead we keep a generous free tier so anyone can use Colloquies meaningfully, and let circles that want more support the service through Circle Plus.

Will prices change in the future?

We aim to keep Circle Plus simple and fairly priced. Because each pass is a one-time purchase rather than a running subscription, there's no rate to lock in or quietly raise on you; you always pay the price shown at the moment you buy. If the price ever changes, it only affects passes bought afterward, and we'll be open about why.

How do I buy Circle Plus?

Open the circle you want to unlock and buy Circle Plus from inside the app, through the App Store on iOS or Google Play on Android. Any member can do it, and the unlock applies to the whole circle right away.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all payment methods supported by the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and carrier billing where available.
